Connecting Community, Cultivating Wellbeing

In 2019, the Balnarring Hub emerged as a beacon of community spirit, transforming the old Ting Tong Kanteen into a vibrant space for shared experiences. This visionary project took flight with the generous support of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.

The driving force behind the Balnarring Hub was a simple yet powerful goal – to create a space where community members could come together, fostering social connections and enhancing emotional wellbeing. In the heart of Balnarring, this initiative aimed to become a vital hub for shared activities and experiences.

The Balnarring Hub pilot phase unfolded with passion and commitment. Skilled and dedicated residents of Balnarring stepped up as volunteer facilitators, lending their expertise to a diverse range of activities. From fine arts to fitness, the Hub quickly became a dynamic centre for all ages and interests.

Adapting and Evolving

Following the later demolition of the Ting Tong Kanteen, the Balnarring Hub resiliently moved to a temporary location at the Balnarring Hall. Undeterred by the change, a committee formed and was incorporated in 2022, fueled by the determination to maintain regular activities. This transitional phase became an opportunity for the Hub to continue thriving while the community worked towards securing a permanent home.

our future

Thriving Together, Growing Tomorrow

As we continue our journey, the Balnarring Hub remains steadfast in its commitment to community connection and wellbeing. Currently operating from the Balnarring Hall, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council for their generous subsidy, allowing us to maintain our vital presence in the interim.

The Hub committee, fueled by the community’s spirit, is dedicated to ensuring that our offerings align with the evolving needs of Balnarring and its surrounds. Through ongoing surveys and engaging social events, we strive to create an inclusive space that resonates with every resident.

Toward a Permanent Home

While the Hub thrives in its temporary location, our gaze is set on the horizon. The committee is working tirelessly to craft a future where the Balnarring Hub has a permanent residence. Currently, our aspirations rest upon the Balnarring Village Common Land.

Balnarring residents previously worked alongside the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to rezone the common land from commercial to recreational. The initial vision included a community centre, a hub for shared experiences. Despite funding constraints at the time, the dream persisted.

The Balnarring Hub is actively seeking funding from stakeholders and further support from the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to revisit the vision of a community centre on the Balnarring Village Common Land. We aim not only to secure a place where the Hub can flourish but also to realise the original plans that the community envisioned—an inclusive space that fosters connection and community spirit.

Join us in this exciting chapter of our journey, as we work hand in hand with the community and local authorities to shape a future that embraces growth, connection, and the wellbeing of all residents. Together, we build a legacy that extends far beyond the walls of the Balnarring Hub.
